Allen Dunn, age 22, is shown as a step-son of Jesse Hill on the 1880 Comanche County, Texas census

"Funeral services for Allen Dunn, 94, will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Sipe Springs Church. Interment will be at Sipe Springs Cemetery under the direction of Jack Schmitz and Sons Funeral Home. Dunn, who died Tuesday at Ponder, was born in Searcyville, Arkansas in 1857 and at the age of nine came to Texas, a trip that required 58 days by oxen wagon. During the Civil War and Indian scares in Eastland and Comanche Counties, he served a messenger carrier for the home guard. For a number of years he conducted an oxen wagon freighting sercie between Galveston and West Texas. Dunn was married in 1883 at Stephenville. Mrs. Dunn died in 1941 and since 1945 Dunn has made hishome in the vicinity aof Denton. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Pearle Hammett of Capitan and Mrs. Minnie Harris of Irving; six sons, Robert Dunn of Carbon, Carl Dunn of Fort Worth, Clay Dunn of Bryan, C. Robson Dunn of Ponder, and Ernest Dunn and Ellis Dunn, both of Irving, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren." (Denton Record-Chronicle, March 8 1951)
