"Francis T. Leak was a lawyer and planter; 1825 - 26 member North Carolina House and Senate; 1831 moved to Alabama; 1834 moved to Salem, Mississippi. He died 27 January 1863 in Alabama, near Benton, at the home of General Robinson C. S. A." ("Kinfolks, A Genealogical and Biographical Record, 1934, by William Curry Harllee, page 254.)
