Chisholm Holland Griffith
(Abt, 1759 - October 6, 1847)
Chisholm Holland Griffith served the Rev. War at the Battle of Trenton, New Jersey. He enlisted in the Militia Oct. 1776 in Frederick Co., Maryland and fought in the Battle of Germantown and he guarded the British soldiers at Fredericktown who were taken at Yorktown, during the winter until the early in 1782. He married Mary Scott in 1778 and had a son Thomas Greenberry Griffith. Mary died in 1782.
After the war, in Mar. 1782, Chisholm left Frederick Co. and went direct to Rutherford Co., North Carolina where his friend Gray Briggs family was located. He met and married Mary “Polly” Briggs, Gray’s sister, there. They had a son John Griffith and possibly 5 daughters. (Mary, Sarah, Serena, Martha and Rachel Polly died in 1789.
Chisholm married his 3rd wife Frances Terrell March 31, 1790 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. They had 4 children, Anna, Joel, Greenberry and William. Frances died Sept 18, 1810.
Chisholm moved to Franklin county, Virginia in 1811 and married Elizabeth Ikenberry/Eikenburg? Bowman. They had no children. Chisholm died in Rockingham Co, Virginia.
