Shirley Ann "Mimi" Mitchell

Shirley Ann “Mimi” Chapman, 82, of Hamby was called to Heaven, with family by her side, on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Abilene. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the funeral home.
  Pastor Tracy Dean will officiate.  Interment will follow at Hamby Cemetery.
Shirley was born in Coleman, Texas to Luke and Elizabeth Mitchell on January 11, 1936. She graduated from Coleman High School as a member of the class of 1954. She married Jack E. Chapman on June 18, 1960 in Hamby, Texas.  Shirley worked as an insurance broker for 60 years where she loved meeting with and helping every client with personal attention even after her office hours. She loved attending Western swing concerts with her dance partner and love of her life, spending time with family and friends, but most of all, spending time with and spoiling her great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Keeney-Mitchell and father, Luke Mitchell of Coleman and brother, Steve Mitchell of Early, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Chapman of Hamby, her son, Rick Chapman and wife Kathy of Kimball, NE; her daughter, Deanna Chapman of San Angelo; three brothers, Boyd “Hoppy” Mitchell and wife Kay of Coleman, Mike Smith and wife Shirley, also of Coleman, Rondoe Smith and wife Gloria of Stephenville; and her sister, Beth Love-Moore and husband Randy of Hamby; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and countless adopted grandchildren that she loved just like they were part of her immediate family.
Pallbearers will be her adopted grandkids, Chad Nall, Steven Otto, Ryan Welch, Cameron Kubala, Taylor Kubala and Hunter Kubala.
