"Piney community resident and Van Buren County native Nancy Vernice Boyd Hillis, 88, died Feb. 6 after a brief illness. A retired employee of USA Enterprises and a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late D.F. and Linnie Gulley Boyd; and was preceded in death by her husband, Jake R. Hillis; and brothers, Roscoe Boyd and Estell Boyd. She is survived by sister, Beatrice Kitchens of Hayesville, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Services were held Tuesday at Bethlehem Church of Christ in Spencer with Billy Reed officiating. Burial followed at Shockley Cemetery. McMinnville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
