"A life-long resident of Surprise Valley, Georgia Genevieve Stanley, 94, passed away of natural causes at her home Saturday, November 23, 2002, with her grandchildren in attendance. Georgia,"Goppy," as she was known to her grandchildren, was born in New Pine Creek, Oregon, September 27, 1908 to Mildred G and John Urban Gentry. S was the eldest of three children. Georgia attended school in New Pine Creek, Santa Rosa, and Cedarville. She married Earl Heath Stanley on December 27, 1926. They had one child, Donna Fae. Mrs. Stanley was a 50-plus year member of the Order of Eastern Star and completed all the chairs. She was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Cedarville for 32 years. Mrs. Stanley's love of life was her family and grandchildren. When not working, her spare time was spent sewing for her grandchildren. She designed and created each of her granddaughters' wedding gowns. Georgia loved the mountains and the outdoors. She and her family spent countless hours picnicking and camping in the Warner Mountains. She is survived by two brothers Lair Gentry of Cedarville and Layton Gentry of New Pine Creek, OR; four grandchildren: Rick Stevenson of Cedarville, Wes a Dige Cook of Cedarville, Sammy and Tom Picotte of Eagleville, Gae and Carl Quigley of Meridian, ID; one great-granddaughter Stacy Cook of Chico, CA.; two nieces Karen Gentry of Lakeview OR. and Lynne Minto of Cedarville. She was preceded in death by her husband Heath Stanley and daughter Don Stevenson. Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, November 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cedarville Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Ben Zandstra officiated t service. Memorial donations may be made to the Cedarville Fire Department or to the Cedarville Community Church." (Obituary.)
