"Ruby Wilson York, 88, 919 Medical Park Drive, formerly of Route 1, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away Monday, May 22, 2000 in the Mountain City Care Center. She was a native of Washington County, Virginia but had made her home in Johnson County most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul York, a daughter of the late Emitt and Annie Gentry Wilson. She was a homemaker and attended the Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Survivors include a nephew, James Wilson, Redondo Beach, California; two great-nephews and several cousins. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Rev. Derl McCloud officiating. Interment followed in the Stateline Cemetery, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. Memorials may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad. Henson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements." (Obituary.)
