William S. Terry

(August 8, 1750 - January 6, 1816)

The William S. Terry Family Cemetery is located near the County Line Church between I-55 and the IC railroad tracks (S6T2NR1W). It was recorded by Mary Collins Landin, on July 17, 1971. This old family cemetery was not located in 2005. Most of the markers were missing in 1971, but Mary Landin was told by nearby families, who was buried there. The old vaults were almost unrecognizable and the cemetery was in wooded pasture. The suburbs of Jackson have now encroached on this area, and all traces of graves will probably be gone in the near future. Later generations of this Terry family are buried in the Terry Town Cemetery, and the town was named for William S. Terry and his family. Whose said to be buried here were: Augustus R. Terry (can't read dates); Sarah Terry, wife of William, born 1761, died 11 June 1834; William S. Terry (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Why would William be buried here if he died in Edgefield County, South Carolina?); Rowland I. TERRY, son of W. S. and S., born 1802, died 13 Dec 1836; Terry, _______ (no given name or dates visible). (Online at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mshinds2/cem_wm_s_terry_fam.html.)
