"James "Jim" F. Hamlett, age 90 of Coleman, Texas passed away on December 30, 2009 to be with his heavenly Father, after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by many of his loved ones and friends. A funeral service will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. He will be buried in a private graveside service at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman. Jim was born November 9, 1919 in Brown County, Texas, a son of John Harrison Hamlett and Edith Marr Hamlett. He grew up in Fort Stockton, Texas where he attended school. He was a good athlete, playing football, and graduated in 1938. He served in the U. S. Army for a short time and was honorably discharged. Jim was a heavy equipment operator, working in road construction. He moved to Coleman in the 1980's. He is survived by a sister, Inez Kenneaster of California, his aunt, Sammie Bettis Stephens, formerly of Brownwood, cousins: Hannah Payne of Bangs and son Eugene Bell, Cynthia and Bob Insall and families of Austin; Rex and Judy Clark of Brownwood and sons Josh and Jared Clark of Ft. Worth; Kay and Craig Keith of Dallas and Bessie Fay Johnson and daughters of Brownwood. He was also loved and cared for by his stepdaughter Becky Hubbard Hoover and her husband Roy of Coleman and their daughter Faith, who called him Papa and was VERY SPECIAL to him.
