Alma Parsons, 92, of Victoria, died on September 27, 2005. She was born November 3, 1912, in Victoria, Texas to the late Clay and Effie R. Newman. She was active in the 4-H Club and Home demonstrations, where she taught many young ladies; and was as active as she could be with the Independent Cattleman's Association. She was a member of the College Church of Christ. Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Ann Weir, two sons, David G. (Hilda) and John G. (Debbie) Parsons. Sisters, Betty Bowers, Jane Yaws, Lydia Smith; brothers; Sam, Arthur, Roy, and Charlie Newman. 8 Grandchildren & 10 Great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years James Gifford Parsons; sisters Mary Haynes, Annie Cochran and brothers Henry Newman and Leo Newman. Visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 2005, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Colonial Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2005, at 10:00am at College Church of Christ, Rev. Roger Moon and Joe Crisp will be officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers: Kenneth Parsons, Andrew Bowers, Donald Newman, Mark Newman, Charles Stephens and Tom Olsen, Jimmy Prince and Parker Cochran. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the College Church of Christ.
