Rachal Lacreasia "Creasy" "Macusia" Marze

(Abt, 1872 - )

(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Is the "adopted daughter" of Cornelia Phelps, shown in the 1880 Newton County, Texas census, the same as this Lucreatia Marze, daughter of Winney Phelps Marze?)

I have a question. Just about EVERYONE lists Winney Phelps as the daughter of Enoch Joseph Downing PHelps and his second wife Bedy Collins. Try to follow through on what I know and it will just about make it impossible. My grandmother was Lacreasia (Macreasia, Creasy, etc) Marzes, daughter of Winney Phelps and Sampson Marzes (Mores, Mares). Winney and Sampson married in Newton County Texas. Winney and Sampson both died young leaving 2 children Lacreasia and Joseph. Lacreasia (Creasy) is buried in Hyatt Cem., Beauregard Parish, LA. Joseph --- I do not know what happened to him other than he was injured while a youngster and became retarded because of it. Anyway, my grandmother was listed as 8 years old in 1880 in the household with Cornealous Phelps which would have made her born in 1872. That would make it almost impossible for Winney to be Enoch and Bedy's child as she would have been no more than 10 when Creasy was born. Also, Granny Creasy thought she was older than being born in 1872 and that is reflected on her grave marker. Plus her name was Rachal Lacreasia Marze before her marriage to a Walker." (Ruth, 2007.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: There is something amiss here, alright. Creasy would have been born about 1872 and her supposed mother, Winney, about 1862.)
