Robert Luther Palmer
(August 15, 1825 - March 15, 1881)
"Robert Luther Palmer married Mary Frances Ogden 25 October, 1848 in Clark County, Kentucky. For some reason, Robert was brought to Missouri about 1829. The family returned to Clark County and later he and his wife, Mary Frances returned to Missouri and settled South of Boonville, Missouri in Cooper County close to the town of Pisgah. Before the final move to Missouri, Robert Luther served as a Teamster, 14th Regiment of Kentucky Calvary. The researcher's great grandmother, Martha related her tales of horror after the War ended and bushwhackers wou ld ride through their farm in Kentucky and steal whatever they could. She was a little girl and she and her brothers and sisters would hide in the woods to avoid being seen. Robert is buried in the Pidsgah Christian Cemetery and he has a Civil W ar tombstone. Mary Frances later moved to her son's home in Weableau, Missouri in Hickory County where she died in 1923. Robert and Mary Frances were the great grandparents of SALLY RAND (Helen Beck) the famous "Fan Dancer" of the 30's, 40's etc., and she often visited Hickory County."
