Miles Bryant Locknane
(October 29, 1807 - July 6, 1847)
In the marriage records of Clark County, Kentucky as compiled by George F. Doyle, M.D., the name is listed as Miles B. Locknane, and Jane Gordon, surety, William Gordon.
"LOCKNANE, MILES B. - perishable part of estate, with the exception of certain livestock, farming utensils and household furniture, to be sold and out of mondey debts and funeral expenses paid. To wife, JANE, remainder of estate, both real and personal, during her widowhood, in order to support and educate children until second son Charles S. is twenty-one, when lower farm, 100 acres, to be valued and given to two oldest sons John W. and Charles S. Should wife marry, she is to have one-third of real and personal estate during natural life and after her decease to children hereinafter mentioned to be equally divided. Estate to be distributed equally among his heirs. To son Miles B., same amount of money that son John W. gets from value of lower farm when he is twenty-one. To daughter, Jane, same amount of money that three sons above have received, when she is twenty-one. To daughter Nancy, same amount of money that four oldest children are to receive. Remainder of estate to be equally divided between his children. Executor: Brother James L. Locknane. Witnesses: James H. G. Bush, James L. Locknane, Samuel Hanson, A. W. Mills, William Low. (Clark County, Kentucky, Book 11, page 208)". This will was written Dec. 28, 1846. He died August 20. 1847. (Actually, he died July 6, 1847 according to his tombstone in the Green Graveyard.)
"Why he was buried at this graveyard I cannot imagine! It is located on Hwy 89 (Irvine Road) about 2 miles from Winchester, Ky. This graveyard is located on a farm that my parents lived on for about 8 years (1931-1939)." (Rhoades, Harter, May, Tapp and Allied Famlies, Virginia Rhoades.)
