" ... It seems reasonably clear that Philip Wrayford who married Catherine Morttimer was either the Philip baptised in 1647/8 or the Philip baptised in 1649 and in this respect it was helpful to find that Patience Wrayford, aunt of the latter ... married in 1647 John Tucker of Crediton ... Not only do we know members of the Tucker family of Devon emigrated to the New World, but the very fact of that marriage enabled me to identify Philip, the father of the Philip baptised in Decembr 1649 as the brother of Patience Tucker (nee Wreyford) in that Philip's wife, Fortune, was named a guardian of the young John Tucker."
