Velma Roch

"Velma Roch Sparks - DeLeon - U.S. Army veteran Velma Roch Sparks, 90, died Friday in a local nursing home. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Satterwhite officiating. Burial will be in DeLeon Cemetery. Born in Anson, she was a longtime DeLeon resident. She worked for Higginbotham's for many years and was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, DeLeon Garden Club, Rebekah Lodge and American Legion. She was a past grand officer and worthy matron in the Order of Eastern Star. She was the widow of Ollie C. Sparks. Survivors include two brothers, J. D. ROch of Hewitt and Guy Roch of Belton; and two sisters, Valda (Mrs. L. W.)
