"Scottie Allen, 57, died suddenly on Thursday, March 17, at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A memorial service was held at Grace Community Church in that city on Sunday, March 20. He had willed his body to medical science. Born in Hasse, Comanche County, in May 1930 to Leslie Albert and Ella Brooks Carnes Allen, he grew up and attended school at Proctor. At age 17 he joined the U. S. Navy and served until retirement in 1972. He began preaching while still in the Navy, became an ordained Baptist minister, and served as pastor of his own church until his death. He attended Tidewater Community College, obtained a BS degree in secondary education fro Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and a master degree in theology. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Springer of Virginia Beach; five sons, Lonnie Dean, Thomas Guy and Samuel Edward of Virginia Beach; James Matthew and John Mark, twins, in the military service; one daughter, Kimberly Ruth Barrimer of Newark, Delaware; two brothers, Dean Allen of Bryan and Stewart Harral; two sisters, Barbara Bowser of Bryan and Helen Harral Wood of Tyler, and his father, Leslie Albert Allen of Ft.
