"Samuel Noland Luckett, son of John and Molly Anne Luckett, was born in Montgomery County, Maryland, during or shortly after the Revolutionary War. He migrated to Jefferson County, Kentucky, and there on February 4, 1803, he married Patience Dorsey.(For the ancestry of Patience Dorsey, see "Anne Arundel Gentry", by Newman.)

Patience died soon after the birth of her first child, thereupon Samuel Luckett married secondly on October 3, 1808, in Jefferson County, Catherine, born September 19, 1790, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Whiting) Thurston.
