Algernon Sydney Sullivan
(April 5, 1828 - December 4, 1887)
Algernon S. Sullivan founded the law firm in New York City now known as Sullivan and Cromwell, today one of the largest and most important in the country.

"SULLIVAN---On Sunday, Dec. 4, 1887, ALGERNON S. SULLIVAN. Funeral services will be held in The First Presbyterian Church, 5th av. and 11th st., Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Friends will kindly omit flowers. Pursuant to a resolution of the Executive Committee, the members of the New York Southern Society are requested to attend the funeral of their later President, Hon. Algernon S. Sullivan, from the First Presbyterian Church, corner 5th av. and 11th st., on Thursday, the 8th inst. at 10 A.M. John Marshall, Secretary Members of the Executive Council of the Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity are requested to attend the funeral services of their late fellow-counciler, the Hon. Algernon S. "Bayard Taylor died in Berlin, Germany, just after The publication of Prince Deukalion, Dec. 19, 1878. His body, which was brought to America March 13, 1878, and lay in state in New York City Hall, where an oration was delivered by Algernon S.
