Silas Hatcher

(Abt, 1820 - )

"Source for all children EXCEPT Edmund, Julia, and Henry: Charles Silas Hatcher. Possible these three died young? If John R. was born 1848, why did he not show up on 1850 census?

"Silas served in the Civil War, 190th VA Militia, Ord Sgt, Co G. He is then listed as Sgt in Co B and Co G, 23rd Batn, VA Infantry. Silas was captured at the Battle of the 3rd Winchester (Opequon) on Sept 19, 1864 and sent to Point Lookout Maryland POW camp.

"Notes from Joyce Harrison: The Lilly Cemetery was moved because of the Bluestone Dam project. The Lilly Cemetery was never flooded. When they removed the graves, they only took a shovel of dirt, placed it in a box and then reburied it in the Crews Cemetery on Sand Knob, Summers County, West Virginia, so the remains of Silas and Permelia are still in the Lilly Cemetery."
