Basil Ausbon "Ozz" Odom

(July 18, 1846 - May 17, 1917)

"Civil War veterans paid tribute to the memory of the late B. A. Odom at the funeral service held yesterday afternoon from the Grace Baptist Church where services were conducted by Rev. H. T. Gash. Services at the grave were held under the auspices of McKinley Post; G. A. R. The deceased served in the Eighth Tennessee Cavalry during the Civil War. He came to Portland from Arkansas 16 years ago and had lived at 30 East Seventy-sixth street North. In addition to his widow, Mr. Odom is survived by the following children: Henry Odom, Seattle; Anderson Odom, Sheridan, Or.; Cordelia Cornet, Dutton, Ark.; Lizzie \Mc Carty\, Harvey Odom, Thomas Odom, Sarah Allwen, Portland; Alfred T. [or F.] Odom, Lents; Mary Putnam, Sheridan, Or.; John Odom, Portland." (Obituary of B. A. Odom.)
