Mable Greer

(September 14, 1921 - )

"Aunt Mabel and I stay in contact and have become good friends, since Helen and I went to Pennsylvania to see her in September of 2002. Helen insisted I go and I am so glad that I did. I had just gotten over a sinus infection and didn't know if I would be well enough, but it was so nice to see her again. I have kept in close contact since she has only a niece on the Greer side, who is too far away and cannot call often. I worry about her being lonely. In some way she fills a gap in my life too, since my mother died.

"She tells me stories about how they all lived side by side in Pennsylvania. They had a fourplex, and Aunt Elva and Uncle Lawson lived in one, George's mother lived in one and Aunt Mabel and George lived in one and they rented one out. Aunt Mabel and George took care of both families before they died. They had big cookout's in the backyard together and went to the beach together where Aunt Mabel and George had a cottage. Aunt Mabel said George's mom would be out the door ready to go any time they went. Aunt Mabel said she was a lot of fun. I wish she lived closer so we could go to lunch sometimes and just visit."
