Juanita (Ray) Bates was the daughter of Ada (Perkins) Ray. She lived in Ranger with her husband, Johnny Bates, who worked for Lone Star. They had no children but adopted a girl. Juanita would often chaperone the seniors to the Gulf Coast. Mother attended a Perkins reunion with her in Oklahoma. She is now deceased, as well as Johnny.
