"Virginia Matassa, was born on August 17, 1920, in Whon, Texas to Bert and Hettye Turney, passed away on June 17, 2009, in Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum. She attended Tarleton State University. She was one of the first salesladies for Mary Kay and then began her 40 year career in Real Estate as an investor. Virginia was an avid gardener. She loved traveling and being on her family farm in Whon. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Matassa; two sons, Martin Matassa, Jr. and Danny Matassa; two granddaughters and their spouses, Danielle and Dr. Robert Wills and Jennifer and Jeremiah Phillips; five great-grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Jake, Kaitlyn, and Lucas. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Matassa; grandson, Neil Matassa; sisters and brother, Hope Turney, Bob Armbrust, Pat Chilton, and Rex Turney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Alzheimer's Association Alzheimer's Association Alzheimer's Association."
