Edgar Joseph Shields lived with his mother and step father in British Columbia, Canada after she remarried. Her second husband was Canadian. Edgar enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada.

Soldier is Edgar Joseph Shield, born June 30th, 1921. Enlisted January 1940 in Vancouver and posted overseas in May, 1940. The serviceman was married overseas, November 7th, 1942, and his wife resides in England. Mrs. Brown stated that efforts were being made to arrange for daughter-law to come to Canada. Mrs. Brown stated that she was married to Edgar Shield in 1920 in Dallas and that in 1925, she divorced Mr. Shield and his present whereabouts areto her. In 1926, she was married to Thomas John Ernest Brown (54 years of age) afterward, they came to Canada and lived in Vancouver from 1931 to 1938, and from 1938 to this date in the Steveston District, where they first lived on Westminister Highway, until purchase of the present property, three years ago.
