(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Melvina "Mary" and T. B. Simmons are said to have been married in Coleman County, Texas, but not marriage records has been found. Melvina E. Simmons and her two children are shown on the 1880 Brown County, Texas census with her mother and step-father, James Richardson. This shows her 2 children's father was born in Illinois, and both the married and widowed column have been checked for her. Apparently he died or left before 1880. Two children, Audrey and Golden Simmons, have been shown in the past as her children from family tradition, but it has been found that they were children of her son, Thomas Simmons.)
