"John Calvin Greear and Rebecca Lawrence possibly had one son. John Calvin Greear said John Greear's second wife was Nancy Calloway or Caraway, but apparently the marriage record shows Conway." (Lois Temple FGS 609.)
"John Greer, son of Shadrick Greear, Sr., born September 14, 1804, died January 9, 1866, married Martha Jane _____, died December 6, 1859. Their children: Eli Greer, others unknown." (From information gathered by Earl Greer and sent to Ralph Terry in 1995 by James McCoin, 312 Seven Oaks Trail, Knoxville, Tennessee 37922. NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: It appears from Earl Greer's write-up that John changed the spelling of "Greear" back to "Greer," and his descendants continued to use that spelling.)
