Thomas Winter Templer

(Bef 6 Apr 1679 - )

Thomas Templer was baptized at St. Mary Steps in 1679. He had at least two brothers and two sisters, one sister dying an infant and one brother at the age of six or seven.
In 1708 he married Grace Hinds at St. Mary Major, Exeter and they had altogether seven children, all being baptized at St. Mary Steps. Like his predecessors before him, he engaged in trade in Exeter, and at his death was described as a Brazier.
Thomas was also a devout churchman, being church-warden of St. Johns, and 1702 at St. Mary Steps.
Beyond these facts, however, little is known of his life.
He died in 1728, and his wife around the same time, for the last of their children, James, the future builder of Stover and Docks Engineer, was baptised in 1722 and educated at St. Johns Hospital as an orphan
