Killed in action while flying in a Brewster Buffalo to intercept a raid by Japanese planes attacking from above. At 16,000 feet, his plane was last seen diving into a cloud over the Straight of Singapore. The Buffalo were notorious for having an inferior engine but were available in 1939 for sale to Australia, and anything was better than nothing. Remembered in Singapore Memorial, Kranji War Cemetery, Singapore. - Singapore
