Born Francis Manley Taylor (younger son of William Cuncliffe Shawe of South Gate House, co. Hertford. Educated at Eaton, Lt Coldstream Guards 6 May 1813, Capt 5 Oct 1820. Retired on half pay 13 April 1826. JP and High Sheriff for co Galway. Succeeded to Castle Taylor, Co Galway on the death of his father in law Lieut-Gen Sir John Taylor KCB.and assumed by Royal Licence dated 15 March 1844 the additional name of Taylor. Died 1863 - Ireland Visitation Vol 6

Note Walter Shawe-Taylor, son of the above, also had a son called Francis Manley Shawe-Taylor
