Born by about 1597 based on date of first marriage. Came from Woburn, Bedfordshire to Massachusetts Bay in 1630.
First settled in Watertown; moved to Rehoboth by 1646, & to Martha's Vineyard by 1651. Died between 13 May 1673 (date of will) and 26 May 1673 (date of inventory).
Married: (1) Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire, 29 August 1622 Alice Brotherton, baptized Husborne Crawley, Bedfordshire, 6 March 1602[/3], daughter of Thomas and Ellen (_____) Brotherton; she died by 1667.
(2) Plymouth 29 August 1667 "John Doged, of Martin's Vineyard, married to Bathshebath Prat, widow," widow of JOSHUA PRATT; she was alive on 4 June 1673.
John Doggett arrived in New England in 1630 & settled 1st in Watertown. One of his daughters married a son of SAMUEL EDDY , whose brother JOHN EDDY had married a daughter of John Daggett of Groton, Suffolk. All of these circumstances would lead one to believe that immigrant John Doggett was a member of this same Doggett family, but no connection has yet been found.
