Death
Vivian Lorraine Bickley, age 94, died the morning of April 30, 2013 at the Bethel Retirement Community in Modesto, CA. Yesterday would have been her 95th birthday and so we wish her a Happy Birthday, one now spent with her late husband, Glenn M. Bickley.Vivian was born in Ripon, CA on August 27, 1918. She was educated in Modesto schools and graduated from Modesto High School in 1936.
She married Glenn in 1940 and was a homemaker and raised their son, John David Bickley, on their peach ranch on Claribel Road. Glenn and Vivian often retold the story of their meeting at a dance to their grandchildren, emphasizing how much they loved to dance all night and how well they danced together.
Vivian was a member of the Modesto Emblem Club #140, the First Baptist Church, and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
No public service. Donations can be made to her favorite charity, the Salvation Army. Vivian was cremated and buried at Modesto Pioneer Cemetery.
Preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her siblings, Opal, Irma, Delmer, and Virgil; and her parents, William and Josephine Fernow. She leaves behind her son John; two grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
