Robert C. Kemman

Robert C. Kemman, 80, of Sawyer passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center. At his request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbert Community Church or the Krasl Art Center. Mr. Kemman was born April 5, 1922, in LaGrange, Ill., the son of the late Elmer and Mary (Schwenck) Kemman. He retired in 1977 as a public school teacher in District 214 of Mount Prospect Public Schools. He was an Army veteran and was a POW of World War II. He was a member of Harbert Community Church, a volunteer at the Fernwood Botanic Garden and Nature Center and active at the Krasl Art Center.
On Dec. 26, 1948, he married Dorothy Erickson and she survives him along with three children -- Raymond (Jon) Kemman of St. Augustine, Fla., Mary Nitschneider of Algonquin, Ill., and Kristine Manley of Alpine, Calif.; five grandchildren -- Mark Kemman, Michelle McCaskey, Jason Nitschneider, Jessica Kemman and Kale Manley; a sister, Lois Steffen of Mount Morris, Ill.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Elmer "Bud" Kemman.
