James Kenneth "Jim" Pledger Sr.

James “Jim” K. Pledger Sr., 75, of Highlands, TX passed away October 29, 2007 at a Houston TX area hospital. Jim was born June 19, 1932 in Danville, AR to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Pledger. Jim was a 1950 Graduate of Carlisle High School and served in the Navy during the Korean War. Jim graduated with a Master’s in Business Education from Sam Houston State and during his 34 year career in education; he was the Building Trades Teacher in Bryan, TX before relocating to Baytown where he was the Director of the Stewart Career Center until retiring in 1994. Jim was a former member of the San Jacinto Corvette Club and the Keenagers Bowling League of Baytown. Jim is a faithful member of the Highlands United Methodist Church. Jim was preceded in death by his parents James and Oma Pledger and his grandson Josh Lindsey. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Laura L. (Craig) Pledger of Highlands; his children, James Kenneth Pledger Jr. and his wife Pamela of Crosby, Bob Pledger and his wife Sabrina of Baytown, Craig Lindsey and his wife Terri of Bay Cliff, and Mary Margaret Hooks of Baytown. Jim is also survived by his grandchildren Kristin and Michael Pledger, Roby, Kyle and Trey Pledger, Chad, Becky and Katy Lindsey, Melody Brezenski, Lou Hooks and his wife Amber, and Lindsey Hooks and her husband Charles King, and six great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, November 1, 2007 from 6-8PM at Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, TX 77562. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 2, 2007 at 12noon at Sterling-White Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service in Sterling-White Cemetery.
