They had 9 children who appear in census records in Yorkshire in 1871 & 1881, and at Esh, County Durham, England in 1891, 1901 & 1911. In 1871 Matilda was living with her grandmother, Sarah Ellen Masterman, while Ann Elizabeth, who died in infancy, was living with her parents.
