Alvin John Simecek, 82, of Canyon Lake, died May 8, 2005, at McKenna Memorial Hospital in New Braunfels.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1922, in Rowena to John Simecek and Mary Rafaj Simecek.
He married Mary Cleo McCaleb on Dec. 9, 1952, in San Angelo.
Simecek owned and operated an auto parts business.
He served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Army and was involved in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Masonic Lodge in Uvalde.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, who died March 26, 2004; his twin brother, Marvin Simecek; and one sister, Martha Simecek.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Simecek of Long Beach, Calif., and Roger Simecek of Canyon Lake; one daughter, Debbye Horton of San Antonio; nine grandchildren, Randy Taylor, Yvonne Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Joseph Simecek, Shanna Simecek, Ryan Simecek, Molly Worth, Melissa Vandruff, and Dennis Michael Simecek; four sisters, Sadie Mikesa of San Angelo, Esther Simecek of Ballinger, Sibel Simmons of Tulia and Adeline Holliday of San Antonio; and eight great-grandchildren.
