Wayne Gilbert Arnold Sr.

Wayne Arnold Sr., 93, of Lubbock and formerly of Plainview, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at a Lubbock hospital.
Celebration of Life services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Bill Couch officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
Wayne Gilbert Arnold Sr. was born Aug. 16, 1913, to the late Royal and Edna (Frost) Arnold in Merced, Calif. Wayne was raised in Shallowater, where he graduated from Shallowater High School. He worked for the Shallowater Lumber Yard before opening Plainview Plate Glass and Mirror in 1952. He retired in 2000. Wayne married Hazel Duncan on June 18, 1938, in Lubbock. Wayne was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plainview, served on numerous Church Boards of Directors, also served on the Board of Directors for the Methodist Hospital for 14 years, was a member of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce and Plainview Downtown Association. Wayne enjoyed collecting old cars and old clothing from the 1910 era. He was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America.
Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, one sister and four brothers.
Wayne is survived by his son, Wayne Arnold Jr. and wife Virgie, of Plainview; granddaughter Elaine Wilson and husband Jeff of Lubbock; great-grandchildren J.P., Keylee and Katie Wilson; and a sister, Peggy Channell and husband Jim of Albuquerque.
