Kenelm Digby
(Abt 1500 - )
Knight of the Shire, High Sheriff, and Justice of the Peace for Rutland; Commissioner of Benevolence, Musters, and Relief. Digby began his long parliamentary career as a junior M.P. for Stamford in 1539, but after his father's death in 1540 was senior Knight of the Shire, representing Rutland in at least ten Parliaments from 1545 to 1584. In 1564 he was reported to be 'indifferent' in religion but towards the close of his life was described as unsound in faith and one of his sons was a notable Catholic.
