(12 May 1871 - 25 Mar 1922)

John Addison Crookham was the son of the late Judge John Abbott Lake Crookham. John A Crookham died suddenly at his home, no 518 High Avenue East, Sunday, March 26, at 1:30 P.M. He had been quite ill and confined to his home several days, but was appearing much better until Sabbath morning when he was so much worse that immediate assistance was summoned, but the patient passed away within a few hours. John A. Crookham was well known about town and county. He was born on the old home place, south of town and was a twin brother of Joe Crookham(Joseph H. Crookham) Mrs. R. K. Davis of Oskaloosa is a sister. He was 50 years and 10 months of age.
His name is connected with numerous local business enterprises and he was also a member of the bar. He graduated from the law school at the State University of Iowa. "South Springs Mills," a four making property that stood on South Market Street was opened under his management and personal supervision. Later he was head of the Hawkeye Overall manufacturing company. Most of his time recently has been devoted to his large land holdings.
He is survived by a widow and three sons, John, Joe, and Jim. It is something of a strange coincidence that a half sister, Mrs. W. A. Chapman, a resident of Portland Oregon, is critically ill with the same trouble that has claimed the brother. Funeral services at 2:30 Thursday, March 28, at the residence 518 High Avenue east. interment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery. (from the Oskaloosa Daily Herald March 26, 1922)
