YORKTOWN--Evelyn S. Barteau, 78, and original member of the Mount Pleasant Township School Board, died Thursday in Yorktown Health Care Center.
Mrs. Barteau was a lifelong resident of the Muncie area. She was a legal secretary for the Muncie law firm of Beasley, Gilkinson, Retherford, Buckles & Clark until she retired in 1980. She was a member of Yorktown United Methodist Church; a member and past worthy matron of Muncie Chapter 104, Order of Eastern Star; Past Matrons Club; Eastern Star Social Club; Delta Alpha Latreian Club; Thrifty Thirty Home Economics Club; Yorktown Womens Club; and Friendly Neighbor Home Economics Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Barteau.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Street Chapel, Muncie. Burial will be in Hawk Cemetery, near Yorktown. Calling will be 4-8 p.m. today at the mortuary, where there will be Eastern Star memorial services at 7:30 p.m.
