Virginia E. Davenport

She was born May 10, 1913 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Claude and Lillie (Latimer) Davenport and grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage March 7, 1942 to Harry E. Guin. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by a brother, C.J. Davenport.
Virginia had a special interest in music. She was a classical pianist, a graduate of Ward-Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee, with diplomas in both academics and piano. She won a scholarship to Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where she received her degree with a major in piano. While at the Conservatory, she won the Clara Bauer Memorial Scholarship award. She played in many concerts in Nashville, Cincinnati, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her first public performance was at 10 years of age then she played on the first broadcast of radio station KVOO in Bristow, Oklahoma, where the station originated. Many years later she gave weekly classical programs on the same radio station after it moved to Tulsa. She was a member of the Tulsa Piano Study Club. She also taught piano in Tulsa for many years. She was a terrific cook and excelled at sewing and knitting. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
She is survived by a son, Ross Stanford Guin and wife Jan; a daughter, Shelley Quattrocchi and husband Michael; five grandchildren, Aimee Yowell, Michelle McCarthy and husband Darrell Osborne [Darrell (Michelle McCarthy) Osborne and their four children Meghan and Emily Osborne, Alyssa and Savannah McCarthy, of Indianapolis], Anthony Quattrocchi and wife Sherae, Emily Friend and husband Mich, Whitney Guin and fiancé David Williams; eight great-grandchildren, Lilly [https://www.facebook.com/lilly.yowell.90] and Ella Yowell [https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010598441878], Alyssa and Savannah McCarthy, Addelin and Clayton Friend, and Michael and Mia Quattrocchi.
Inurnment in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
