Mr. Buckner was educated at a private academy, of which his uncle,William Aylette Buckner was president. He began his business careerin the Milwaukee office of the New York Life Insurance Company, April7, 1880, when he was fifteen years of age, as an office boy, andrapidly advanced through all the intermediate grades of service.Previous to his promotion to the position of Inspector of Agencies Feb15, 1892, he worked in the field as agent, and was subsequentlyCashier of the Kansas Branch office, then Agency Director f the same.On Dec 12, 1900 he was elected Fourth Vice-President, and on May 13,1903, Vice-President. he had also been a Trustee of the Company sinceApril 10, 1901.
