LANETT - Mr. William L. "Fotchie" Ray, 62, of Lanett died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, Aug. 29 at 4 p.m. at Langdale United Methodist Church in Valley with the Rev. Roger Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kay Ray; three children, Amanda (Bob) Guenther of Snellville, Ga., Jillian (David) Abney of Valley and Allen (Kelley) Bridges of Beulah; three grandchildren, Nick Spraggins of Snellville, Taylor Foster of Valley and Brynlee Teague of Valley.
Born Jan. 2, 1946 in Langdale, Mr. Ray was the son of the late Margie Lee Templeton Ray and William L. Ray Sr. He was a lifelong resident of the Valley area and was a retired employee of the city of Lanett, where he was the supervisor of the utilities department. Mr. Ray was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in his memory to MDA, 700 Century Park South, Suite 129, Birmingham, Ala. 35226.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 28 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Langdale United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home of Valley is handling arrangements.
