Harriet passed away June 7, 2009, in Spanish Fort and will be buried at the Old Decatur Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. She was a native of Decatur, living at Canal and Vine.
Harriet married at the First Presbyterian Church in 1941 to Terry L. Moore Jr., her husband of 57 years. His military career and their worldwide interests carried them all over the world. The Rev. Don Haas, Minister of the Decatur First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the short committal service.
Family and friends are invited to the service at the cemetery.
Roselawn Funeral Home of Decatur is in charge of arrangements.

MOORE Harriet Zoe Irwin Moore - a native of Decatur, Alabama, a resident of Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, Alabama for the past 12 years; and previously a long time resident of Mobile; died June 7, 2009 at her residence at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort at the age of 97. Mrs. Moore was the wife of 57 years of Colonel Terry Locklin Moore, Jr., a native Mobilian, who pre-deceased her in 1998. She was further pre-deceased by her parents, Samuel William Irwin and Harriet Zoe Littlefield Irwin both of Decatur, Alabama; and her sister, Frances Jane Irwin Doss, formerly of Decatur, Alabama and of Mobile, Alabama at her death in 1987. Mrs. Moore attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music [now a part of the University of Cincinnati] as she was an accomplished pianist; and a member of the Chi Omega sorority at the University of Alabama. She was also a member of several mystic societies in Mobile; as well as a long time member of the Government Street Presbyterian Church for over 50 years; a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century since 1980; and an active member of the Mobile Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1948. She was a Presbyterian Women - Honorary Life Member since 1971; and also in 2008 awarded an Outstanding Service award by the Presbyterian Women - Government Street Presbyterian Church. She loved to travel, did so extensively, and lived in a variety of places worldwide - Decatur & Mobile, Alabama; Alexandria, Virginia; and Tachikawa, Japan - during her husband's US Air Force career. She is survived by her son Terry Locklin Moore, III [Vera Elizabeth Caldwell] of Daphne, Alabama; daughter Harriet Zoe Moore Powell [Stephen LaBruce Powell who died in 2002] of Eufaula, Alabama; grandson Terry Locklin Moore, IV [Suzann Mari Ward], great-granddaughter Kate Allison & great-grandson Terry Locklin V of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter Serena Elizabeth Moore Schreiber [Edward Robert Schreiber III], great-grandson Edward Robert IV & great-granddaughter Nicolette Madeline of Leonardo, New Jersey; granddaughter Frances Irwin Moore of Nashville, Tennessee; granddaughter Kimberly Zoe Powell Powers [Scott Benjamin Powers] great-grandsons Scott Benjamin Jr., John Stephen, & William Robert of Lafayette, Indiana; and granddaughter Lucy LaBruce Powell Cournoyer [Michael Christian Cournoyer] great-grandsons Jake Christian & Owen Gabriel of Phenix City, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mariedora Thompson Moore [Parkman Blake Moore who died in 2005] of Mobile, Alabama; nephews: Charles Crawford Doss of Covington, Georgia, Charles Ernest Edgar, III of Auburn, Alabama, Walter Bellingrath Edgar of Columbia, South Carolina, Leland Thompson Moore of Mobile, Alabama, & Parkman Blake Moore, Jr. of Aiken, South Carolina; and nieces: Marie Amelia Moore Wilkes of Dyersburg, Tennessee, & Serena Abbot Edgar Willcox of Mobile Alabama; among many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Government Street Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 13, 2009. The family will receive friends in the church's Guesnard House at 10:00 AM prior to the church service at 11:00 AM. A private graveside service will be held in Decatur, Alabama at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Government Street Presbyterian Church [300 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama, 36601]; or the Richards-DAR House Museum [256 North Joachim Street, Mobile, Alabama 36603.
