Individual Details
Abraham Heard
(26 Feb 1769 - 8 Jun 1822)
Abraham was the son of Thomas Heard who left a will naming Abraham as his son. Thomas died in Greene County, Georgia where Abraham lived before coming to McMinn County.
Abraham entered this land sections 2 and 3, and was killed before the grant came through. The government issued the grant to his widow. She later sold the land to John McGhee, who sold it to Moses Wetmore. It is part of the historic Savannah Farms.
Abraham lived, died, and is buried in what was then McMinn County, but was later Polk County when that county was formed in November 28, 1839. Therefore, the Heard and Kennedy gravesites are listed in Polk County Cemetery Inscriptions.
(Someone sent the birth date as February 26, 1769, which may be correct, but does not quite match the "age 55 years" stated on the marker.)
