Lyle Dragoo Salem, OR - AUGUST 26, 1930 - JULY 3, 2021
Lyle J. Dragoo was born to Lee and Grace (Shortridge) Dragoo on a farm near Reynolds, Nebraska, the youngest of 12 children. Graduated from Reynolds High School in 1948, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Served in the Korean War. Honorable Discharged in 1952. Attended the University of Denver. Graduated in 1963 with a BSBA Degree. In 1954 Lyle met Carol M. Hutton while both were working part time at a bank in Denver, CO. Carol was attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Lyle and Carol were married August 21, 1955 (which was Carol's 20th birthday) at the Park Hill Methodist Church, Denver, Colorado. Three sons were born of this marriage. In June 1963 the family of four moved to Lewiston, Idaho to accept an Operations Manager job with Potlatch Corp. In September 1973 the family of five moved to Salem, Oregon for a General Manager of Operations job with Willamette Industries, which was purchased by Weyerhauser Corp. in 2002. Retired from Willamette Industries on April 1, 1995. Upon retirement Lyle and Carol traveled to Europe several times, spent winters in Rio Verde, AZ playing golf and enjoying the many activities at the Senior Community. Lyle, Carol and three sons enjoyed skiing trips to Mt. Bachelor near Sunriver, OR. Many trips to their condo in Sunriver, where family enjoyed Christmas, Thanksgiving, skiing, golfing and many family activities. Lyle is predeceased by his parents, Lee and Grace (Shortridge) Dragoo, three sisters and eight brothers. Lyle is survived by his wife Carol of 65 years, sons and wives, Keith (Becky) Dragoo, Scott Dragoo, Mark (Kim) Dragoo. Four grandchildren, Brooke (Chris) McCasky, Morgan (Tony) Grosz, Ryan Dragoo and Grace Dragoo. Four great grandchildren, Maci Grosz, Cru Grosz, Deagan McCasky, and Ainsley McCasky. Services will be held, graveside, on July 17, 2021 at 11 AM, at the Salem City View Cemetery. Donations may be made to in honor of Lyle J. Dragoo. Arrangements are made by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Services. Burial at City View Cemetery. Salem, OR.
