Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, from 1-8pm with the family greeting guests from 5-7. Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater will be providing guidance as we plan a celebration of this remarkable and beloved man.
Larry Martin Ille was born March 16, 1950 in Fort Worth, Texas. His parents, who preceded him in death, were James M. Ille and Wanda Lou (Malcolm) Ille.
Larry was raised by his grandparents in rural Cotton County, Oklahoma near Temple, where he graduated from high school in 1968.
As a freshman at Oklahoma State University, Larry met Robert (Bobby) Maschmeier. They instantly became friends and within weeks were roommates. On the first visit back to Turpin, Oklahoma with Bobby, Larry met the family - and the girl - who would become an important part of his life.
Larry’s senior year of college coincided with Annette Maschmeier’s freshman year at OSU. By the end of the school year, the two were planning a wedding for shortly after graduation in June of 1972. They made their home in the Oklahoma City metro area for several years before moving to the Oklahoma Panhandle, where Larry worked for Panhandle Eastern. Larry later owned and operated Hall Construction Company with partner Lonnie “Red" Cannon for twenty years.
After selling Hall Construction in 2000, Larry and Annette retired to Stillwater, Oklahoma. After two years of retirement (which he decided was not for him), Larry returned to his beloved alma mater, Oklahoma State University, as one of the first supervisors in the newly formed Transit Department.
Larry was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Liberal, Kansas and Zion Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He served his churches in the past as an elder, served his community as a member of the Turpin, Oklahoma Board of Education, and served on the Panhandle Telephone Board in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Larry had a knack for making friends everywhere he lived and worked. Larry had a compassionate, generous, loving-yet-ornery nature that appealed to all. He was always quick with a smile, had a way with a story, and laughed easily.
He will be greatly missed by his adored wife Annette, of the home; his daughter Sharlie Ellen, her husband Scott Doty, and grandchildren Gavyn Harris and Scotlynn Doty; his daughter Vesta Jo, her husband Sean Ridenour, and grandchildren Gus and Ahna; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Alexa Jahn Ille, his parents, and both sets of grandparents.
His family wishes to extend their heart-felt gratitude to the staff of both Oklahoma Heart Hospital and 701 ICU at Baptist Integris for their kind, compassionate, and loving care of their dear Larry - husband, Daddy, Poppo, brother, and friend. We also send our most sincere love and gratitude to the many family and friends who kept him and us in their prayers and provided for us so generously during this time.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Zion Lutheran Church of Stillwater, C/O Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, Ok.
