Ruby Dell Currie, February 25, 1931 - February 1, 2016
SAN DIEGO - Beloved wife of Shelby M. Currie, Jr., Ruby Dell Currie passed away after a long illness on February 1, 2016.
Daughter of James and Mattie Nolen, Ruby Currie was born in Delight, AK, on Feb. 25, 1931. Ruby grew up in Texarkana, TX, graduated from Delight High School. Ruby enjoyed her job with PSA airlines as a flight attendant trainer and later as a Records Analyst. Ruby was President of a local Women's Club. Ruby also modeled high-end ladies apparel.
Shelby and Ruby Currie were married for 44 years, and everyone who knew them felt the extraordinary and everlasting love they shared. Ruby and Shelby shared a love for golfing, belonging to the Stoneridge Country Club for 18 years. For the past 40 years, they spent their summers in San Diego, and their winters in Mazatln, golfing and enjoying social activities in the warm sun there.
Shelby and Ruby enjoyed traveling to Europe, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico and S. America. As well, they enjoyed hosting lavish parties, where Ruby was the ultimate, gracious hostess.
Ruby is survived by her loving husband Shelby, her brother Eddie and sisters-in-law Dixie and Zelda, niece Velda, nephews Joel and Dean; her stepchildren, John, Thomas, Catherine, Robert, and Patricia Currie. Preceded in death by her dearest daughter Dreama, brother Everett Nolan and stepdaughter Carol A. VonGottberg.
Ruby's kindness and compassion touched many lives, and she will be sorely missed by everyone who loved her.Services will be held at 17010 Pomerado Rd. San Diego, CA 92128, on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception at Stoneridge Country Club from 11:30-1:30 p.m. A private interment will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial.
