Hettie Octavia Henson Duncan, 98, widow of James Martin Duncan, died Sept. 24, 2001, at Piedmont Lutheran Health Care. She was formerly a resident of Jordan Road, Lyman, SC for many years. A native of Spartanburg County, a daughter of the late Edd and Octavia Howell Henson, the oldest member of Zoar United Methodist Church, and a homemaker.
Surviving are one son, William T. (W.T) Duncan, of Duncan; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Duncan was predeceased by one daughter, Geneva Alexander; and one son, Eston Duncan. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Providence Baptist Church, Gibb Shoals Road, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Harper and the Rev. Edmond Poole. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at The Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of the son, William T. Duncan, 306 Buckingham Road, Duncan, SC.
