Thomas Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson were never married. They were first cousins who had a child together, (my paternal grandfather) according to proven DNA. This is recorded on here for genealogical purposes.
The son was originally named Thomas Adcox when he was born, presumably after the biological father. That is the name on the original birth certificate and census. But just a few months later, Elizabeth married to Jesse Adcox. On the next census, the child's name was changed to James Franklin Adcox.
