Funeral services for Solona Day, 45, of Kountze, will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Promise Land Baptist Church in Lufkin with Bro. Myrton Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Zavalla Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas.
Solona was born on July 14, 1978, in Bryan, Texas, to Thurman Westlee Hester and Kay (Evans) Hester, and died Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Beaumont, Texas.
Solona loved life and her family very much. She loved watching movies on the Lifetime Chanel. Solona enjoyed cooking, traveling, fishing, and dancing.
She is survived by her husband of 7 years, Eric Day of Kountze; son, Brian Brock of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Kailei and Tyler Broadway of Rustin, LA; daughter, Siera Day of Beaumont; grandson, Beau Weston of Rustin, LA; grandson, Graecyn Brock of Lufkin; mother, Kay Hester of Nacogdoches; stepfather, James Sandlin of Nacogdoches; brother and sister-in-law, Westlee and Tatum Hester of Philadelphia, MS; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Kimberly Hester of Nacogdoches; sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Steven Horton of Nacogdoches; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Stephanie Hester of Hudson; brother and sister-in-law, Zachary and Shannon Hester of Hudson; mother-in-law, Sandra McKinnon; uncle and aunt, Wayne and Jackie Evans of Lufkin; special aunt, Shirley Kleinik of Lufkin; uncle, Cecil Hester of Diboll; best friend, Lyrica Ates of Ramond, MS; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Solona was preceded in death by her father, Thurman Hester; and grandparents, Betty and Roy Hester.
Pallbearers will be Westlee Hester, Chris Hester, Randy Hester, Zachary Hester, Warren Hester, and Brian Brock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Hester and Steven Horton.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Promise Land Baptist Church, prior to the funeral service.
